Multi-purpose Amphitheatre
In 2008, Shawinigan acquired major and innovative equipment for ice sport activities. This new 4,000-seat multi-purpose amphitheatre houses an ice rink with retractable boards that allow the rink to be resized to meet North American or Olympic standards. The facility, constructed at a cost of more than 20 million dollars, is also equipped with pioneering energy recovery technology. It is also home to the Shawinigan Cataracts, a junior ice hockey team in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.
The amphitheatre, which is located in downtown Shawinigan along the shores of the Saint-Maurice River, is also designed to host large shows, thus accommodating up to 4,500 spectators at a time. Close to restaurants and hotels as well as to all major tourist attractions such as the Cité de l'énergie, to name only one, the Shawinigan amphitheatre is the choice location to hold all your events.
